Neil Wilson will give a talk in The Institute on Oxfordshire Emigrants who were on the Cataraqui in1845. Doors open at 7.15 pm and the talk starts at 7.30 pm. This tragic story tells how the poor were ‘encouraged’ to emigrate in the 19th century and the fate of the 400, many from Oxfordshire, who endured the journey on the Cataraqui — only to be shipwrecked one day from its destination of Melbourne, leaving just nine survivors. Visitors welcome at £5.00.

We meet in Church House on the first and second Tuesday of each month from 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm. New people are always welcome, some to learn to knit if wished. We have kindly donated wool and would like to see it made into blankets and garments. These we give to charity and one donation was to the Salvation Army which they gave to people in England. We really do produce a lot of items in spite of plenty of ‘natter’ and laughter over our cups of tea. It is a fun afternoon so do come along. Go to
