Adderbury History Association – 20 July
Neil Wilson will give a talk in The Institute on Oxfordshire Emigrants on the Cataraqui ship 1845. Doors open at 7.15 pm and the talk starts at 7.30 pm. This tragic story tells how the poor were ‘encouraged’ to emigrate in the 19th century and the fate of the 400, many from Oxfordshire, who endured the journey on the Cataraqui — only to be shipwrecked one day from its destination of Melbourne, leaving just nine survivors. Visitors welcome at £5.00.
