Adderbury Community Speed Watch

This is a new friendly club which you can join and is active throughout the year in the fresh air and is run by a group of villagers who believe in reducing traffic noise and nuisance so that all may enjoy the unique character and peaceful atmosphere in Adderbury. Speeding traffic is a danger to our children, pets, and wildlife, as well as being a source of irritating noise pollution for many living along our main routes. The speed limits are there for a reason, we want to remind everyone to stick to them.

If you are able to assist in looking after a patch then please contact Andrew Donaldson [email protected] or 07870 900703.

Keep Dogs on a Lead

The Parish Council has been requested to kindly remind those who use footpaths which are routed across fields, to ensure that dogs are always on a lead if there is also livestock in the fields.  Dogs chasing pregnant ewes can cause them to miscarry if they are frightened and/or chased by dogs.  Please always pick up dog waste too and dispose of it in a dog waste bin or at home.

Wild Flower Areas

Some years ago the PC started a Biodiversity initiative by leaving some areas of the village unmown for the whole summer. These include an area at The Rise; the grass verge at St Mary’s Road; Long Wall Close/Henry Gepp amenity area; parts of the Lucy Plackett Playing Field; and Lake Walk Green. These areas are now starting to produce a variety of wild flowers which provide sources of pollen and nectar for a wide variety of insects and other species. Thanks to the residents of the village who maintain and look after this area on behalf of the Parish Council. Read More to see photos from St Mary’s Road and The Rise.
