Adderbury Scout Group
At Adderbury Scout Group, we have a thriving Scout and Cub pack, who for many years have met weekly at the Institute. We hold our regular meeting night on Thursdays, with the Cubs slot prior to Scouts. With circa 20 members in each group, Scouting is serving our village well.
Our committee of volunteers help to support and steer the Leadership team, which consist of John Mann, Darren Milward, Kate Maclean and until recently Gabe Wingrove.
Importantly, Scouting allows for children to explore new skills that build personal confidence, lasting a lifetime. On top of this, teamwork promotes interactivity that again will see them through adulthood. For those who wish to progress, attaining the Chief Scouts Award is the epitome of Scouting, very much like the Duke of Edinburgh awards scheme.
Whether it’s camping out under the stars, night hiking, orienteering, or an array of badge work, Scouting is rather unique.
Today though, we are seeking some help to support the Leadership team in Cub Scouts. Gabe’s departure to St Andrews to take his Masters degree leaves us with a gap to fill. Kate Maclean is wonderful at supporting Cubs at a Leadership level but will be on a bi-weekly basis. Our plan is to get us back to a weekly meet, and so I am reaching out to the village to encourage anyone who would like to be involved in a Leader role. The commitment needed is based on every other week for an hour, but can increase if the individual would like to. Support and training are all here at Adderbury Scout Group.
For an informal chat, please reach out to either myself or John Mann, Group Scout Leader.
