Help with Prescription Deliveries

In these uncertain times, many members of our communities are following Government advice by self-isolating in their homes due to a variety of reasons. This isolation can lead to concern regarding the timely collection of medical prescriptions from local pharmacies. To help allay those fears Banbury Star Cyclists’ Club, in conjunction with Banbury Harriers Athletics Club, Cherwell District Council and the Thames Valley/North Oxfordshire Pharmaceutical Committee, have started a scheme whereby prescriptions are collected from pharmacies by the fifty volunteer cyclists and runners and delivered to those who are unable/unwilling to travel.

Free Food Boxes

Cherwell District Council is working closely with the Citizens Advice Bureau to provide free food boxes. If someone elderly/vulnerable and self-isolating and has no means of getting food, Citizens Advice can deliver an emergency food parcel.  CDC is coordinating the requests through Community Connect run by Citizens Advice.  The contact number is 0300 30 30 125. Please leave your name and telephone number only and one of the team will call you back. www.canosn.org.uk/. Please spread this information, following the 2 m social distancing rule, to anyone in the community who you believe to be eligible.

Exercising

We all know how important it is, particularly at this time, to get out and exercise in the fresh air. Running or walking in the fields is fine but keep to the designated public footpaths rather than walking in the tractor marks which go up and down the fields. This is in order to protect the crops and also to protect vital bird-nesting sites in the fields.  However, for the safety of  all, please do wear gloves when out exercising.

FOCAL 100 Club

Welcome to the Focal 100 Club!  It is a great way to support your local library while having a bit of a flutter!  Here’s how it works.
You agree to pay £2.00 per month or £24.00 per anum. This buys you one membership number which is entered in the monthly draw. (of course you can always buy more membership numbers if you wish!) All participants must be over 16 years of age.  The draw will take place on the last day of the month.
The prize money will be 25% of the membership fees received in that month.  The remaining 75% goes to Focal to help keep our library open. The winner each month will be sent a cheque for their winnings.
Membership forms can be obtained from the Library or downloaded from our website – Adderburyfocal.org.uk.
