The FOSMA team was very busy over the festive season providing tea, cake and mulled wine for the Christmas Tree Festival and also preparing for the Christmas concert. The Christmas Tree Festival very generously donated all funds raised to FOSMA so a huge thank you to all those involved. Thank you also to the wonderfully talented Voices Across Time team, Florence Taylor, Joseph Cummings and Harriet Wells, who filled St Marys with joy, laughter and lots of people. Together these events raised well over £5,000. It was a magnificent effort and fantastic boost for the church tower project. We are hugely grateful for all the support we have received.
Although we are not by any means saying goodbye to her, I should also thank Trish Fennel for being such a great chairman of the FOSMA commttee for the last four years. At the risk of sounding cheesy, Trish’s dedication, humour and sheer hard work has been an inspiration. Many of us in Adderbury are in her debt.
In the meantime, some hardy folk have been getting Fit for FOSMA under the tutelage of Matthew Brock on Friday mornings at 09.30 – 10.30 at the Lucy Plackett playing field. By popular request Matt is going to continue the sessions at least until Easter – if not longer. It’s a great way to get some fresh air, meet others and get rid of a few winter wobbles at the same time. Please feel free come along and join us.
Looking ahead we are excited to welcome Lisa Millar, Australian TV’s Bureau Chief and award-winning journalist, to be our next speaker at Church House in late March/early April. Over the last two years Lisa has covered all the key news events including the New Year’s Eve attack in Istanbul, the Manchester bombing and the Grenfell Tower fire in London, not to mention the ups and downs of Brexit and a snap UK election. Her talk will focus on her experiences and also touch on how news reporting is adapting to a world in which truth and accuracy must jostle with innuendo and fake news. Please keep an eye out for more details.
Finally, please do get in touch if you want to be more involved with FOSMA – we welcome new members, new ideas and would always love to hear from you.
