Our MP Victoria Prentis has given her Unsung Heroes Award to Deepa and Dave Bansal from Adderbury Stores in recognition of all they’ve done for the community during lockdown. Victoria said: ‘Thanks for all you have done for the residents of Adderbury by continuing to provide food and supplies during this incredibly difficult time’
One resident told us: ‘they certainly deserve this recognition – they have completely revitalised our village shop, organised deliveries and gone out of their way to help everyone during the crisis. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they see their job as being to provide service to the community – which they definitely do and always with a smile!’
Deepa and Dave took over a dead shop last December and were building it back steadily – it was hard work winning back villagers’ confidence in their much-maligned village stores – commuting from Northampton every day, and going to cash and carry on their way home to get the supplies people had asked for. Their efforts during Covid have been legendary, business was good, and they must have been exhausted at one stage
Now things have levelled out (for the time being??) Deepa sent this note to Contact readers:
‘We are so delighted with this award, and thank the lovely people of Adderbury for supporting us – in return all we ask is this: don’t forget us as life tries to get back to normal. Make shopping at Adderbury Stores your new normal’

They are normal business people building a reputation of showing willing and going that extra mile. They are rewarded by building a good customer base, They make a profit from good marketing. They don’t need a trophy from Victoria Prentis. She should be concentrating on more serious issues.

So well deserved!. It is always a pleasure to enter the shop as we always get a friendly welcome and a smile. Always willing to get items in if its something you would regularly buy. Deepa and Dave really are an asset to the village and I do hope people continue to shop there whatever the future circumstances are regarding this tiresome pandemic.

Well done Deepa and Dave. It is always a pleasure to visit the shop. Nothing is too much trouble. Everything is fresh and in date. We don’t buy milk or eggs from anywhere else now. It is very rare that on three or more visits every week we don’t find something else too. Used the UPS courier service this week and for about £1 more than their cheapest rival I saved a drive of thee miles. It was a quicker sevice to all plus another Deepa smile.
