Remembrance Poppies

The Parish Council would like to thank Debby Dickinson for suggesting and organising the lovely display of poppies around the village. Every Poppy is in memory of a soldier from this Parish named on the War Memorial (which is inside St Mary’s Church) and each has some information about the named soldier. Many of the names of these soldiers are those of families who still live in the village or local area. There are over 60 of the poppies and they are spread all round the village.

Warm Winter Tuesdays Starting 10 January

We will be using Church House on Tuesdays from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm as a warm winter space for anyone who would like to escape from the cold for a while! Hopefully the change of day and time will help older residents in the village join us. And the library will be open! Please come along with your book or newspaper, cards or dominoes – or just to have a chat! – to keep warm and enjoy a cuppa. There will be no charge but a small donation if you feel like it (or a packet of biscuits!) to help towards costs would always be appreciated. For more information please contact Virginia on 07973131544 or email

Adderbury Guides

At the end of last term, we were delighted to be able to present our first Guide Gold award to Rebecca McLoone. This award is presented to a Guide who has completed all six of the Theme awards in Guides, and has completed a personal challenge. We celebrated her achievement with cake and balloons, and a slide show of her Guiding life – from her beginning as a Rainbow.

Adderbury Brownies

The leadership team for Adderbury Brownies has expanded, and we’re excited to start our meetings again after the summer break. To fit in with leader commitments, we’ve changed to meet on a Monday, and now meet just before Guides. We meet each Monday in term time, 5.45 pm to 7.00 pm at the Lucy Placket Activity Centre.

The Adderbury Ukulele Group

We meet every Monday evening at the Adderbury Bowls Club, having the use of a large lounge with good lighting and a bar at club prices. We are a friendly group of all ages from primary school children to many retired players, all enjoying strumming and singing popular songs, in a relaxed atmosphere. New players are always welcome and we are particularly keen to find a bass player.
