‘Mrs Harris goes to Paris’ – 13 January

Adderbury Cine Club presents, in the Institute, a Meals and Reels evening in aid of FOCAL – doors open at 7.00 pm for the meal and the film starts at 8.00 pm. ‘Mrs Harris goes to Paris’ tells how a widowed cleaning lady in 1950s London falls madly in love with a couture Dior dress, and decides that she must have one of her own. Starring Lesley Manville and Isabelle Huppert, this comedy drama is directed by Anthony Fabian.  The charity Meals and Reels evening is charged ay £12.00.  There is no additional cost for full members to see the film. How this year has flown, and when you open your Newsletter (click here to see December Newsletter) you’ll see that we are finishing the year with a few Festive notes, and hitting 2023 with a fantastic new event. FOCAL Christmas Cards are available in both your village shop and Library, with our village delivery card service now in place.
Saturday 10 December 10.00 am to 12.30 pm is our Festive morning, with our Grand Hamper Prize Draw, just £1 per ticket, Tombola and much mulled wine, tea, coffee and mince pies – the only place to be this Saturday morning.
On 13 January Adderbury Cine Club will be presenting ‘Mrs Harris goes to Paris’ a Meals and Reels Night in aid of FOCAL.

‘Pinocchio’ – 26-28 January

Adderbury Theatre Workshop will be presenting ‘Pinocchio’, a brand-new pantomime, in the Institute – doors open at 7.00 pm for the evening performances, and 2.00 pm for the Saturday afternoon performance. ‘Pinocchio’ tells how an old woodcarver, Geppetto, carves a wooden puppet and wishes on a star that he might become a real boy. With the help of his conscience, Jiminy Cricket, Pinocchio comes across challenges and temptation. Come along to the Institute to find out what happens. Tickets, at £8.00 for Thursday evening and Saturday afternoon and £12.00 for Friday and Saturday evenings, go on sale on Monday 5 December. Click here to book your tickets.

Parish Council Surgeries

Adderbury Parish Council has taken the decision to discontinue the Parish Council surgeries. These have been running on a monthly basis for a number of years, but at most surgeries, no members of the community attend. Therefore, should residents wish to contact the Parish Council, they should do so using the contact details on the Parish Council web site.

The Winter Mini-Reading Challenge

The Reading Agency have teamed up with the Science Museum Group for a Gadgeteers Winter Mini Reading Challenge for children. The challenge runs from 1 December until 20 February 2023 and is run by the Oxfordshire library service.  Please click here to see more details.
