Jazz in the Garden – 3 July

The Friends of St. Mary’s Adderbury (FOSMA) are delighted to invite you to this year’s Jazz in the Garden with Dickie White and Friends in the beautiful garden of The Old Vicarage, Mill Lane from 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm.  This year we are delighted to welcome Edd Frost and his ice cream van so bring some money for a delicious ice cream to help keep you cool!  If you haven’t been before, bring a picnic, something to drink and something to sit on.  There will be a raffle – all raising money that goes towards the upkeep of the fabric of our beautiful church.  Tickets are £10 each (children under 12 free) and can be purchased either from Trish Fennell on 811059 or trishfennell242@gmail.com or on the door.  See you there!

The Adderbury Ukulele Group

We meet every Monday evening at the Adderbury Bowls Club, having the use of a large lounge with good lighting and a bar at club prices. We are a friendly group of all ages from primary school children to many retired players, all enjoying strumming and singing popular songs, in a relaxed atmosphere. New players are always welcome and we are particularly keen to find a bass player.

Party in the Park

WOW! What an amazing and memorable day! This year’s Party in the Park on 11 June, in the words of many of the crowd, really was the best yet!
From its small-scale inception 20 years ago for the Queen’s Golden Jubilee, Party in the Park has come a long way. This year, for the first time, we were obliged to fence and ticket our event, following Cherwell District Council’s advice – due to safety concerns and in line with local music festivals of similar size. The new arrangements were greeted initially with some scepticism by us and many of our PIP regulars. However, all earlier misgivings and worries proved on the day to be unfounded. Thanks largely to the beautiful weather, people who had hesitated to buy tickets sooner paid on the gate and flocked in to support us.

Summer Reading Challenge 2022

This year’s theme “Gadgeteers” is all about creativity, science and innovation. Get curious and inventive this summer with a FREE children’s reading challenge at your local Oxfordshire library!  From 9 July to 10 September, children across Oxfordshire can collect stickers and rewards as they read library books.  Click here to see the poster giving more details of “Gadgeteers”.  Illustrations by Julian Beresford and © The Reading Agency 2022.

Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations

Despite the miserable weather Adderbury villagers turned out in numbers to enjoy the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.  From the Morris Dancers to the Fancy Dress competition and much more, a good time was had by all.  Click here to see lots of photos kindly sent in by Ann Lyons and Roger Dickinson.
