During October 2017, a meeting of Adderbury Parish Council was held on 31 October 2017.  The contents of that meeting will be reported separately.
During October, individual Councillors and the Clerk carried out a number of tasks and work on projects in the village, which included:
Play Equipment – meetings with Proludic, who are the contractors installing the new play equipment at The Rise and Lucy Plackett Playing Field, to oversee the project and sign it off and liaising with Cherwell District Council with regard to the release of Section 106 funds for the projects.  The play areas are now fully open.
Highways/footpaths – liaising with the County Council with regard to road markings for dropped kerbs to prevent drivers from parking their vehicles in front of the dropped kerbs outside of the veterinary surgery, Shepherd’s Keep and Church House; reporting issues with public rights of way to the County Council; dealing with issues of fly tipping in the layby on Banbury Road, on the entrance to Adderbury from Banbury where the recycling bins are located (these textile recycling bins will now be removed) and attendance at a meeting of the Parish Transport Representatives in Oxford.
Allotments – collection of rent for 2017/2018 from the tenants of the Walled Garden Allotments;
Staffing – A meeting of the Staffing Committee was held to discuss the Clerk’s hours and work load;
Defibrillator – just over £900 has been collected for the village defibrillator.  More funds are needed and if any individual or business would like to make a contribution, then they should contact Chris Shallis at The Bell;
Maintenance – making repairs to the door to the spring/well on Horn Hill Road after it was damaged during bad weather; repairs to the gate at the Lucy Placket play area; arranging additional grass cutting for the village areas and the Lucy Plackett Playing Field and awarding contracts for grass cutting/lakes maintenance/allotment & cemetery maintenance for 2018/2019;.
Milton Road Land – supporting the ‘Working For Adderbury Community’ (WFAC) Group; receipt of the feasibility study relating to the drainage on the site and contact with Nicholas Kings Homes with regard to them locating their site on the Milton Road land for £500 per month.  This money would be ring fenced for the Milton Road land project;
ANP – assisting the Adderbury Neighbourhood Plan team. The deadline for comments on the consultation is Friday 24 November 2017.
Parish Council Surgery – held on the first Saturday of the month at Church House, from 11am to 12 noon.  Wheelie bin stickers asking drivers to slow down are available for residents to collect free of charge.
Planning – submission of an application to Cherwell District Council for works to trees in the Lucy Plackett Playing Field as part of the PC’s Tree Survey; making comments on a number of planning applications and works to trees from Cherwell District Council and on occasion, South Northants Council; liaison with Barwood Homes and seeking legal advice over issues relating to access for machinery from their entrance road into the Parish Council land adjacent to Adderbury Court amenity area and liaison with Cherwell District Council with regard to Fleet Farm Barns and the poor condition in which the site has been left by the developers.
Lakes Work Parties – held on the first Saturday of the month and all volunteers are welcome.
Communication – updating the Parish Council web site and Facebook page.
Correspondence – dealing with a number of letters, emails, telephone calls and face to face conversations with residents on a variety of other issues affecting them and the village.
Finance – arranging a meeting of the Finance Group to enable the budget to be set for 2018/2019.
Parish Institute – liaison with the Parish Institute Trustees.
FOCAL – attendance at meetings of FOCAL.
Litter Pick – liaising with the Scouts with regard to suitable areas for their litter pick.  The Parish Council thanks the Scouts for undertaking this in the village.
Adderbury Fields – assisting residents of Adderbury Fields and St Mary’s Road with regard to the unopened footpaths from the new estate.  Residents from both areas do not wish to see the footpaths opened and contact would be made with the County and District Councils on this matter.
Anti-social behaviour/vandalism – support of residents in Adderbury Court who have issues with young people drinking to the rear of their properties and also issues of vandalism of the temporary fencing at the Lucy Plackett Playing Field.  Both issues have been reported to Thames Valley Police.
Reminder: 
Please could residents pay special attention to cutting back hedges and trees now autumn is here, to ensure safe walking at night. With the darker evenings, it is important to keep footpaths and walkways clear of encroaching growth and ensure street lights are at their most effective.
To dog owners, please ensure that all dog faeces are cleared up and either taken home (and placed in household waste Green Bins) or placed in the dog bins provided.  Take extra care on grassed areas where children play.
Faulty Street Lights – Please report on freephone 0800 317802 giving exact destination and pole number if possible.
Power Cuts – The new, free, three digit, 105 telephone number to call in the event of a power cut has now gone live.
Meeting Dates – Parish Council meetings are usually held on the last Tuesday of the month at the Church House at 7.30 pm.  If you wish to attend, please check these details with the Clerk, prior to the meeting, in case there have been any changes.  Information is also available on the PC web site.
