During November 2017, a meeting of Adderbury Parish Council was held on 28 November 2017. The contents of that meeting will be reported separately. There was no meeting of the Parish Council in December 2017, however there was a meeting of the Grants Working Party and the Finance Working Party.
During November, individual Councillors and the Clerk carried out a number of tasks and work on projects in the village, which included:
Resignation – David Griffiths had sadly resigned from the Parish Council and the vacancy would now be advertised.
Highways/footpaths – liaising with the County Council with regard to a proposed footpath across Colin Butler Green and also with regard to road markings for dropped kerbs to prevent drivers from parking their vehicles in front of the dropped kerbs outside of the veterinary surgery, Shepherd’s Keep and Church House, however due to a lack of funding at the County Council, these could not be completed until the new financial year; in early December, the Parish Council would be attending a meeting with a representative from Cherwell District Council with regard to Longwall footpath and had arranged road sweeping for Dog Close due to the excessive amount of leaves on the road; wheelie bin stickers asking drivers to slow down are available for residents to collect free of charge from The Bell Inn and the PC assisted residents of Banbury Road with noise issues relating to works on the highway by Barwood Homes.
Maintenance – discussion with contractors with regard to quotes for tree works.
Milton Road Land – supporting the ‘Working for Adderbury Community’ (WFAC) Group. Councillors Martin Rye, Diane Bratt, Chris Shallis and Keith Mitchell had attended a number of WFAC meetings; receiving and signing the contract with Nicholas Kings Homes with regard to them locating their site manager’s office on the Milton Road land for £500 per month. This money would be ring fenced for the Milton Road land project; and a meeting was held with Cherwell District Council about the Section 106 agreement with Nicholas Kings Homes relating to the recently approved application for five houses on Milton Road.
Adderbury Neighbourhood Plan – The ANP team would be choosing an examiner for the next stage of the process and have liaised with CDC following the recent Public Consultation.
Parish Council Surgery – held on the first Saturday of the month at Church House, from 11am to 12 noon.
Planning – submission of an application to Cherwell District Council for works to trees in the Lucy Plackett Playing Field as part of the PC’s Tree Survey; making comments on a number of planning applications and works to trees from Cherwell District Council and on occasion, South Northants Council; liaison with Barwood Homes and seeking legal advice over issues relating to access for machinery from their entrance road into the Parish Council land adjacent to Adderbury Court amenity area; and on-going liaison with Cherwell District Council with regard to Fleet Farm Barns and the poor condition in which the site has been left by the developers.
Lakes Work Parties – was held on 2 December 2017 and all volunteers were thanked.
Communication – updating the Parish Council web site and Facebook page.
Plaque – a plaque would be erected in the Lucy Plackett Paying Field by the McDowie Family, once a suitable location had been found.
Correspondence – dealing with a number of letters, emails, telephone calls and face to face conversations with residents on a variety of other issues affecting them and the village.
FOCAL – attendance at meetings of FOCAL.
Section 106 Funds – liaison with the County Council for an updated list of funds available for the Parish.
Thames Valley Police – liaison with Thames Valley Police with regard to a ‘Have Your Say’ meeting/drop-in session being held on Wednesday 17 January 2018 at the Parish Institute from 530pm to 7.30 pm. All residents are welcome to attend between these times to meet with PCSO Lauren Bushby.
Adderbury Fields – a meeting would be held on Monday 11 December 2017 with Cherwell District Council and David Wilson Homes with regard to the unopened footpaths from the new estate.
Please could residents pay special attention to cutting back hedges and trees now autumn is here, to ensure safe walking at night. With the darker evenings, it is important to keep footpaths and walkways clear of encroaching growth and ensure street lights are at their most effective.
To dog owners, please ensure that all dog faeces are cleared up and either taken home (and placed in household waste Green Bins) or placed in the dog bins provided. Take extra care on grassed areas where children play.
Faulty Street Lights – Please report on freephone 0800 317802 giving exact destination and pole number if possible.
Power Cuts – The new, free, three digit, 105 telephone number to call in the event of a power cut has now gone live.
Meeting Date – The next Parish Council meeting was on 16 January 2018.
Parish Council meetings are usually held on the last Tuesday of the month at the Church House at 7.30 pm. If you wish to attend, please check these details with the Clerk, prior to the meeting, in case there have been any changes. Information is also available on the PC web site.
