Meetings – During June 2021, the Annual Meeting of the Parish Council was held on 29 June 2021. The next meeting of the Environment Committee is scheduled for Thursday 15 July 2021 at 7.30 pm on Zoom.

Copies of agendas and minutes are available on the PC web site. www.adderburypc.co.uk

Parish Council Vacancies – There are two vacancies on the Parish Council. Please contact the Clerk for more information regarding becoming a Parish Councillor.

Rhoda Woodward – A Memorial Service is being held on Saturday 11 September 2021 at 11am at the Methodist Chapel, Adderbury followed by refreshments at the Coach and Horses PH. All those who knew Rhoda are invited to attend. The original date of 10 July 2021 had to be rescheduled due to the extended Covid-19 restrictions.

Environment/Highways/Footpaths – Works to erect the new chicanes on Berry Hill Road and Milton Road had started on 28 June 2021 and road closure would be in place until 30 July 2021. Plans of where the chicanes will be located are available on the PC web site.

The work to a temporary closure of the western arm of the Horn Hill Road/Milton Road junction would now be paused following feedback from residents. The majority of those who responded to the consultation were not in favour of the temporary closure. The Parish Council agreed that the impact of the two new chicanes on Milton Road and Berry Hill Road should be assessed before this temporary closure was implemented.

Community Speedwatch was continuing and if any residents wished to volunteer a few hours to monitor the traffic around the village, please email the Clerk.

Residents of The Rise and parents dropping off/collecting from the Primary School are reminded not to park their vehicles on the green in The Rise, as it is an amenity area not a designated parking area. Parking on the green damages the grass, kerb stones and obstructs the grass cutting contractor from being able to maintain the grass. Parents/carers attending the Primary School are also requested not to park dangerously at the junction of The Rise and Banbury Road.

Please could residents remember to cut back hedges and trees which are overhanging footpaths and roads, as this creates a dangerous situation for drivers and pedestrians.

Issues relating to the maintenance of highways, footpaths and street lighting should be reported by residents to https://fixmystreet.oxfordshire.gov.uk/

Litter Pick – The annual village litter pick was held on Saturday 5 June 2021 and thanks are passed to the Adderbury & District WI for organising the event.

Adderbury and Milton Feoffees – The Parish Council’s new representative on the Feoffees is Parish Councillor Jackie Head and she would take office when Councillor Sue Jelfs’ term of office expired in October 2021.

Milton Road Land – Members of the public are reminded that they should not be accessing the Parish Council’s land on Milton Road (site of the community building and sports pitches), due to the health and safety risks of contractors being on site. There is no public access over the land and there is no public access to any Public Rights of Way through the adjoining land which is privately owned land. Therefore, for your own safety, please do not access any of this land.

In consultation with the Parish Council’s Ecologist and Cherwell District Council, trees were removed from the field to enable to the entrance to the site to be built, during the construction of the chicanes. Work was due to continue until at least the end of the July 2021.
