After a week of mixed weather, the sun came out and shone all afternoon for the annual garden party on 11 September at The Manor House, home of Sir Martin and Lady Jacomb.
Everyone enjoyed the wonderful atmosphere of the village event – the variety of stalls, the delicious teas, the beautiful garden and of course Hector’s Punch and Judy show. It was an incredible success, with a huge turnout of supporters, who helped to raise an astonishing £1,700 for St. Mary’s Church.
Many, many thanks to everyone involved. Special thanks to Hector whose two Punch and Judy shows were a huge hit and seemed to be enjoyed by the adults as much as the children! I must also thank Sheila Nicholls and her team who worked incredibly hard to serve a huge number of people their afternoon tea.
I’m also very grateful to those who donated items for the stalls and to those who manned them. Thanks also to those who contributed delicious homemade cakes, which were enjoyed by all.
And finally – thank you to everyone who came and supported the event; and to Sir Martin and Lady Jacomb for hosting it in their beautiful garden. It was lovely to see so many happy people, enjoying themselves, after what has been a challenging time for everyone.
